On the first day, we drove to the district of Mattupetty, about 1.5 miles from the heart of Munnar. We started our day by viewing the sunrise at Photo Point. The spectacular vistas of the rising sun and surrounding plantations were breathtaking. Next, we had the packed breakfast we brought from our resort and headed to Mattupetty Dam for boating and the tour of the tea gardens.After spending some time walking along the dam and seeing the massive store of water, we made our way to the Mattupetti Indo-Swiss Farm. Here you will see a variety of wild animals and birds frequenting the local watering holes. Next stop was &nbsp;Echo Point. It is an enchanting place where the mountain ranges of Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni, and Kundala come together. Be ready to walk amidst delicate clouds on Echo Point.We stopped for a lunch of Idiyappam with Egg Curry at a local restaurant and visited Kundala Lake for a relaxing walk. You can also take a boat ride here. Finally, we made our way to Top Station in time for the sunset and a 360-degree view of the verdant Western Ghats range. Then headed to the Mayura Ayurvedic Centre Munnar for a cathartic full body Ayurvedic massage, which helped us rejuvenate.We returned to our resort in Munnar for the night.&nbsp;

Eravikulam National Park

The second day was absolutely spectacular since we spent the entire day exploring the Eravikulam National Park. Wear shoes on this day since there is quite a bit of walking to do. And carry sufficient water and snacks.We started early in the morning to trek the Kurinji Trail. We were able to spot the iconic Nilgiri Tahr. The Neelakurinji flowers had started to bloom just then. This trail takes about 5-6 hours to trek but isn’t particularly tiring. There are lots of spots to sit down and rest. We ate our packed meal of Appam &amp; Stew here.After completing the trail, we made our way to Lakkom Waterfalls. This is a 1-1.5 hour trek along what is called the Cascade Walk, and it is absolutely unforgettable. After lunch, we drove to see the iconic Thoovanam Falls, which looks like frothy milk instead of water. Carry waterproof clothes for this one.&nbsp;

Pothamedu

On the final day of our trip to Munnar, we started early to visit the Carmelagiri Elephant Park, a wildlife sanctuary. Here we opted for a 15-minute elephant ride amidst the jungle, and this was such an amazing experience. We could also spot endemic flora and fauna here and lost no time taking photos. After a quick breakfast at a local hotel, we drove down to The Blossom Hydel Park, which is a lush wooded park, home to exotic wildlife.Then we made the 40 minutes drive to Pothamedu district, where we visited the Tea Museum. We took a guided tour and learned about the Indian tea-making process, and saw the machines in action. We purchased some tea at the Museum tea store.Our next trip was to Rose Garden, where we were able to walk amidst exotic roses of all hues. The kids really loved this place. After a late lunch of Kerala Prawn Curry and rice at a local restaurant, we made our way to Pothamedu Viewpoint to catch a glimpse of the nearby cardamom, coffee and tea plantations. The sunset here was spectacular.

Exploring Pothamedu

Munnar is a sleepy hill station that is the perfect getaway spot when you’re stressed by city life. The gently undulating landscape, surrounded by tea plantations and coffee estates, is very therapeutic. We traveled by car we had hired here and could see many places. There isn’t much physical activity to be done here unless you want to take the pedal boat rides or trek here. Come with sunscreen, insect repellant, waterproof jackets, and caps for the trip. Plus, bring with you a big appetite because Munnar is renowned for its finger-licking food.
