Bergen

Our trip started with our arrival in Bergen. Bergen is a small city on the western coast of Norway and is surrounded by mountains, oceans, and fjords. One of the famous fjords is Sognefjord, which is the deepest and longest fjord in Norway. We decided to explore the streets of Bergen and fell in love with its vibrant nightlife and lively restaurants. The student population of the city adds a youthful and modern vibe to the city.

After breakfast, we decided to explore Bergen on a private tour. Our guide was a Bergen local and took us on a trip we thoroughly enjoyed. We started at the city center and went up to the mountainside called "Sandviksbatteriet," which offers some spectacular views of the city. The trail from here took us to a small cabin steeped in the history of World War II. Our guide kept offering local stories of the city's culture and history, which made the walk even more enjoyable.We headed to Mt. Sandviken and also took a hiking trip to Mount Ulriken, Mount Fløyen, and Mount Rundemannen. For lunch, we enjoyed "Kvikk Lunsj," which is a Norwegian treat at a lovely spot on the trail.

After breakfast, we picked a rental car to explore the Western Norway countryside. We drove 2.5 hours to reach the Aurlandsfjord, which is a branch of Sognefjord and continued driving till Undredal. This tranquil fjord-side village is well-known worldwide for its traditional cheese. The cheese is produced from the milk of goats that roam the hillside freely.We continued driving to reach Aurland, a small town in the inner part of the Sognefjord. We also took a trip to the national landmark Stegastein Viewpoint, created by Todd Saunders, a famous Norwegian architect. We were famished by the end of the day and had dinner at Duehuset Pub, a restaurant that has an outdoor terrace with stunning fjord views.&nbsp;

Flåm

Myrdal

We had our rental car, and so we decided to head over to Flåm, an idyllic village. We parked our car here, and we picked up rental bicycles for the day. On the way to Myrdal, we enjoyed one of the most beautiful journeys beside one of the most beautiful train rides in the world.We explored Myrdal and then cycled back down to Flåm, a little slower as we were tired. We returned the bicycles and took our car to get back.

Borgund

Borgund Stave Church

After having breakfast at our hotel, we spent a relaxing day visiting various places on the way to Skei. The Borgund village is about an hour away from Aurland and houses the Borgund Stave Church. It is a popular wooden monument rich in history and one of the best-preserved in Norway.We drove for two more hours to Skei, taking a break at Fjærland. We stopped at Mundal, the village center, to visit the famous Hotel Mundal, built in 1891. We also took a trip to the Norwegian Glacier Museum, which is an architectural marvel situated near Fjærlandsfjord. We stayed overnight at the Skei village

Geirangerfjord

Hellesylt

We woke early and had breakfast in Skei. After that, it was a four-hour drive to Geiranger. We parked our car and took a boat to explore the Geirangerfjord. The deep blue fjord is surrounded by gorgeous mountains, greenery, and waterfalls, and you can take some stunning photos.The fjord cruise stopped at Hellesylt, and we explored the beautiful old farmhouses around the hills. After that, we returned back to Geiranger to decided to explore the town. The town offers many open-air restaurants, sidewalk cafés, galleries, and shops.

Ålesund

LYST CAFE-BAR & FOOD

Our day began with a drive to Ålesund, which took us about a couple of hours. It is one of the prettiest cities in Scandinavia. It is the cultural hub of the region with several museums, a lighthouse, a sea park, and charming streets that you can explore. We visited the Aalesunds Museum, Molja Lighthouse and Fisheries Museum in Ålesund.After a fantastic day, we had a hearty and authentic Norwegian meal at Café Lyspunktet for dinner.&nbsp;

Sunnmøre museum

Today was the day to end our exciting trip to Norway. Before leaving Ålesund, we visited Atlantic Sea-Park, Sunnmøre Museum and the charming town of Aksla. We enjoyed our last day in this wonderful city with a delicious lunch, a relaxing stroll, and shopping before taking a ride to the airport for our flight back home.

The beautiful fjords of Norway are an unforgettable sight. Towering on either side as you cross deep-blue waters, snow-capped mountains, and majestic waterfalls, it is a sight one can't forget for the rest of their life. The west Norwegian fjord landscape has been categorized as a World Heritage Site. This 8-day trip to the Western Fjords of Norway was truly awe-inspiring.
